The Federal Council has decided that employers are responsible for paying the employee contributions to the employer contribution reserves that they have accumulated.

The regulation came came into force on 12 November 2020 and is limited till 31 December 2021.

The measure is intended for employers to bridge liquidity bottlenecks. For the employees, the measure has has no effect: the employer deducts their share of the contributions from their wages and the total contributions are are credited to them by the pension fund.
